5K Run/Walk for Education
5K Run/Walk for Education
The 3rd Annual Silver Mile was a huge success in engaging thousands of students, their families, and community members in a multi-faceted, family-friendly health and fitness event. The Foundation’s investment to purchase a specially designed curriculum, taught in all P-H-M schools for four weeks prior to the event, prepared students to participate in the 5K Run for Education and 1Mile Fun Walk and taught the benefits of healthy choices and exercise. Of the 1,076 participants, many were students participating in a 5K or 1Mile for the first time!

In addition, thousands participated in the hands-on, interactive health and fitness activities offered by title sponsors Memorial’s HealthWorks! Kids Museum and Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and other health and fitness related organizations. Each year the Silver Mile just gets bigger and better!
Thanks to the hundreds of volunteers, sponsors, and community members for making the event such a success! Mark your calendar to attend next year's Donna & Dr. Jerry Thacker 5K Run/Walk for Education at Penn High School on Saturday, May 9, 2009, and join us at the Silver Mile Health Fair and Family Expo.

2008 Race results are posted at www. greatlakeschampionchip.com.
